ChannelSeek
Channelseek is a well-organized guide to a wide range of audio and video
content. Navigation is simple and engaging, and content seems to be
thorough. The drawbacks: Relevant narrowband content isn't easily
accessed, and featured links appear to be driven more by business
relationships than editorial preference.
Scour
Scour.net is an easy-to-use portal that specializes in popular
entertainment, especially music, film, radio and streaming applications.
Steer clear, however, if you want something beyond pop culture.
Rampt
Rampt.com is a guide to a range of broadband content that also offers
related narrowband links. At first, the site's busy graphics are
interesting, but they soon lead to visual frustration and are
challenging to navigate. The content isn't organized intuitively,
either. That can make finding what you want a chore.
Excitextreme.com
Excitextreme takes an innovative approach to the Internet: It's less of
a portal than a service. It won't let you easily search for specific
broadband content, but does let you use a broadband interface to conduct
a search, as well as to shop and learn. Excitextreme.com doesn't appear
quite ready for prime time, but it may get there soon.
ADSL Experience
ADSL Experience offers some interesting links, but it's poorly organized
and, in some cases, beyond logic. One link, for example, is to a cartoon
featuring hamsters in a blender. That's great if you're into that sort
of thing. If not, keep surfing.
OnBroadband
True to its name, On Broadband offers links to broadband information,
applications and content. It's an easy-to-use site, but could extend its
range. Its big plusses: education and community.
Warner Bros.
Entertaindom
With links to video and audio content, Entertaindom is well-organized,
but not as comprehensive as a scour.net. The focus, not surprisingly, is
on Warner Bros., which works if you like that kind of stuff.
Speed Snap
A great site loaded with video and audio clips, Web-searching tools, and
an easy-to-navigate interface.
