TCP/IP
Setting for Business Subscriber |
To setup your IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway for use with e-speed,
check out the following screenshot. It will work for both Microsoft Windows
98 and Windows 2000
(snapshot screen varies a bit for Windows 2000 users).
Step
1: Verify that the Ethernet Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol are installed
Press the "Start" button, select "Settings...," then
"Control Panel." Double-click the "Network" icon.
In the dialog box that appears, make sure the "Configuration"
tab is selected. Both your Ethernet card (often referred to as NE2000
Compatible or a specific model name) and "TCP/IP" should be
present, if so, you are ready to proceed to step 2.
At this point,
there may be several network components installed in the `Configuration
Tab.' Unless your computer is part of another network, you should remove
all installed components except your network adapter (i.e., NE 2000 Compatible)
and TCP/IP -> Network Adapter. If you have a modem and wish to use
it for dialup access, you should leave the Dialup adapter and TCP/IP ->
Dialup Adapter installed as well. When you leave this screen, you may
get a message saying that your network is incomplete. Just click OK.
To add the
Ethernet card, you will need to follow the instructions that came with
the card you purchased. They should provide detailed steps regarding configuration
of the card on your Windows machine. (This can be a complex process. If
you run into difficulty with this step, you will likely need expert technical
assistance. Please call the e-speed support vendor for techinical help
or contact the vendor of your computer or Ethernet card for assistance)
